10 TIPS TO COMPOSE A SONG

For some composing songs is something visceral and passionate, necessary to put out flames, for others it is simply another task. But of course, there are many ways to address the song composition issue. I would like to share with you some of the ideas that I always have in mind when composing download lagu.

1. Be inspired

Often the right environment can help ideas arise. For some, the ideal is to compose in the light of candles in a small room, for others the heat of a sunny day. Find out what inspires you. It can arise from anywhere: a coffee break, while watching a movie, in a chat with a stranger.

2. Don't get distracted!

Although today it is difficult to pay attention for a long time, partly thanks to tools such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, you have to prioritize so put your smartphone in “Airplane” mode and get carried away by inspiration.

3. Do not complicate

Sometimes with a simple rhythm ringing your fingers on the table is more than enough as a basis for developing an idea. So why not record it? There are songs that are made from the sound of a printer, for example. I always try to set limits by playing the guitar in the simplest way possible, even if it is a cheap guitar and the sound is not the best.

4. The first idea is usually the best.

We must take into account ALL the ideas, but particularly the first one, recorded with a smartphone or something similar because it is usually the most convincing take after a day composing. It is clear that the ideal is to record with the best possible quality, but a good idea does not need a suitable environment for recordings.

5. Experiment!

There are countless methods to create new sounds and loops, from a progressive chord, an existing loop or a voice shot using plugins or simply placing them in a DAW. And with the MIDI technology that exists today it is very easy to change the sound of the instruments, even in the middle of a song. Another aspect to consider is the tempo. How does this song sound much faster or slower? Also try to play the theme in different tones, you will see the amount of different emotions transmitted. Sometimes a software error or a broken microphone that falls at the right time are elements that provide a totally new overview.

6. Try something different

When I get stuck in the composition process I usually take some instrument that I don't usually use as a mandolin, a banjo or a harmonica. This will simplify the work to look only at the essential elements of the song such as melodic lines or chord progression. The truth is that when we play our favorite instrument we usually skip this part. It is always good to change habits and break with customs.

7. Rehearsing is a waste of time

MEEEC Wrong! Rehearsing does not hurt anyone and it never hurts to be able to take advantage of everything learned to bring out new things. Rehearsing helps us perfect and is something that can be applied perfectly to song composition.

8. Structure!

Nobody has asked you to reinvent the wheel but you do try to develop your own method of composition. It usually happens that more time is spent finding the desired sound than the composition itself. If we work like this we will lose a lot of time in the end and it is not something very useful to say. If a song has essence and structure, it doesn't need glitter and makeup.

9. Give it a break.

Oxygenate your ideas, work on something new. Not always everything you do will be the work of a genius. It often happens that dozens and dozens of songs are composed so that only 10 tracks end up on the album. It usually happens that sometimes a composition is made of several different parts, arranged to form something unique.

10. Music is fun!

If at the end of the day the day has not been as productive as you expected remember that inspiration comes and goes, like any creative process. For me, creativity is a muscle to be trained. Analyzing songs can be very useful, and I don't necessarily mean analyzing harmony or rhythmic structures, but rather the emotional effect of these. Why are some choirs in particular that touch the sensitive fiber? Is it what they say or how they say it? Is it a concrete sound that supports the entire composition?
